What We Do: CEEZAD conducts research, develops technology and trains a specialized workforce to help defend the US against catastrophic events caused by high‐threat transboundary, emerging and zoonotic pathogens.

Who We Are: The Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Diseases partners with university, industry and government experts from around the world. Founded in 2010 as a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence, the major goals of CEEZAD are to develop vaccines, advance point of care diagnostic capabilities and multiplex detection technologies; develop novel epidemiologic decision tools; and create workforce development programs to combat high consequence transboundary, emerging and zoonotic animal diseases that could pose catastrophic risks to animal health, public health and the agricultural economy.
